ONSET OF DRUGS EFFECT THROUGH DIFFERENT ROUTES; A Practical Activity

Requirements

Rabbit, Anesthetic drugs (Diazepam tablets, Diazepam Injection)

Procedure

Take four healthy rabbits. Keep them fast for 12 hours.

Administer one rabbit with diazepam tablet at the dose rate of 2mg/Kg orally by making its solution in distilled water.

Administer second rabbit with diazepam injection intramuscularly at the dose rate of 2mg/Kg.

In third rabbit, administer the diazepam subcutaneously at the dose rate of 2mg/Kg.

In forth rabbit, administer the diazepam intravenously at the dose rate of 2mg/Kg.

Then note the time of onset of anesthesia in all the animals at the dose rate of 2mg/Kg.
